About Me:

My overall vision is to make people happy through my

photography. My dad inspired me to take pictures because

he was always taking pictures while we were on vacation.

I began by taking pictures on my old phone and

now, I use my Nikon D40 to take all my pictures for my

photography class. I hope my pictures communicate how

interested I am in taking risks and trying new things.

Andy Warhol and Annie Leibovitz have inspired my

current work, though I hope I can seek interest in others.

I liked the exhibitions in the MoMA because of how

unique they were. It’s really important to me that all my

pictures are clear in quality. I enjoy using Lightroom more than Photoshop. I like to have lower exposure when editing because I think it portrays a deeper meaning. My goal is to have one of my photographs in a photo gallery that lots of people will see. I would like to experiment with film photography and learn new tricks with digital photography.

My overall vision with my concentration is to capture the struggles of Type One Diabetes. Diabetes is widely misunderstood, and its important for a type one diabetic, such as myself, to have people understand what living with this disease is really like. I want people to understand that I didn't get this disease because I didn't take care of myself and hearing “you can’t eat sugar” is completely false. At first I had some thoughts about how I could convey the struggles of diabetes in simple terms like things that I have to do to keep myself alive. Some examples would be my excessive stash of sugar and all of my different supplies. Doing this project helped me realize that everything is not as it seems and you should walk a mile in someone else's shoes before judging them.

The beginning of my career as a photographer has helped to shape me by guiding me to my final concentration.
